Why NOENE?

In the past, humans walked on natural ground with bare feet, adapting their locomotor system to the pliant surfaces of forests and fields, on earth and sand. The elasticity and structure of the ground allowed for the absorption of the greater part of the shock created by the human step.

Nowadays we must walk in shoes, mostly on hard surfaces such as tar, concrete, and tiling. These rigid surfaces, far from absorbing kinetic energy, tend to reflect it in a harmful shockwave - technically known as negative energy.

Negative energy is transmitted via vibrations that reach neural zones of the locomotor system, causing perpetual micro-traumas, which in turn promote the development of tendinitis, peri-tendinitis, talalgias, peri-ostitis and fatigue fractures, soreness of the feet, hip, knee, back and lower cranial joints. The vibrations are transmitted by the tendons to muscle areas, forcing them to work in opposition to dynamic movement. The result is increasingly persistent fatigue that leads, among other conditions, to swollen limbs.

NOENE Material

Noene is a vibro-absorbant elastomer made up of crystalline micro-cells. A new type of material, it is part of the rubber family but differs from traditional elastomers due to several special characteristics.

The 2 central features of Noene® are its rubber-like elasticity and its innovative capacity for shock absorption. These features work together - with the elasticity permitting energy intake, and the shock absorption characteristic allowing for energy to be released.

Noene® was created for all industrial sectors in an effort to reduce the wear and tear due to vibrations on machines.

The creators of the material ingeniously applied its qualities to humans, particularly in chiropody.
NO Energy NEgative (NOENE) soles were developed by William Piccione.

How does NOENE protect you?

Each step we take sends a shockwave starting at the heel and travelling by way of joints, tendons and muscles to the head. On hard ground the shockwave is often amplified to 100 or 200 kg/wave per step. The elasticity in Noene®, as in all other elastomers, enables it to absorb the energy generated by the shock.

The real revolution lies in the absorption capacity of Noene®, which actually enables it to disperse the energy received. The vibrations emanating from the shock therefore do not travel up the bone structure.

Thanks to shock absorbing potential of NOENE® inner soles, 94 to 100% of vibrations never reach the calcaneum (heel bone).

1st Generation: Other Materials

Most good shock absorbing materials are thick and heavy (ex. polymers). Lighter materials (E.V.A. foam) are usually even thicker. Example : sports shoes in general.

  • Advantages: Comfortable and pleasant to walk in. The shock is virtually imperceptible.
  • Disadvantages: The extreme comfort often goes hand-in-hand with over-absorption of shock-waves, which are unfortunately intensified by a “spring” effect. Much has been published on the spring effect in biomechanics.

2nd Generation: NOENE

Noene® is fine and light. It is an exceptional elastomer that can neutralise - starting at 2 mm - the reflection of shockwaves resulting from foot/shoe/ ground interaction. On the other hand, it does not actually reduce the sensation of shock ; it works by neutralising the wave of negative energy that travels up the
skeleton during walking, running or jumping motion on hard ground. Examples of shockwave reducers : cork or leather-soled shoes.

  • Advantages: It offers 94-98% protection from the shockwave, and actually allows the initial shock to be felt. This is an undeniable advantage when it comes to foot reflexes, and is acknowledged by all athletes.
  • Disadvantages: It is probably not the most comfortable material, but in actual fact does not differ much in terms of comfort from other modern sports shoes. It is definitely an indispensable accessory for all sports figures.
